Do you have the next... AMERICAN TITLE?

Move Over American Idol,
Aspiring Writers Will Now Have a Chance to Strut Their Stuff Too!

Even if you're not a fan of Reality TV, you no doubt have heard about one of the hottest competitions for aspiring entertainers called American Idol on FOX TV. Because of its popularity we decided to have a fun competition in conjunction with RTBOOKClub to search for the next—American Title!

The contest is open to aspiring writers for contemporary romance only, and Dorchester Publishing will award a publishing contract to the winner.

To parallel the show we needed our own trio of judges to fill the shoes of snarky Simon Cowell, cool dude Randy Jackson and compassionate Paula Abdul. We invited Romantic Times' own Flavia Knightsbridge (whose identity has been kept secret to protect the guilty!), who jumped at the opportunity to be brutally honest; Hilary Ross (a former editor at Penguin), who will be our voice of logic and reason; and Leslie Kazanjian (a former Silhouette, Berkley and Dorchester editor and currently a editorial consultant), who will be kind, nuturing and gentle with her opinions.

Like American Idol we will print the judges' opinions with each round of competition, but it will be the readers who will vote.

The competition will begin with the RT BOOKclub December 2004 issue and continue through the April 2005 issue. It will begin with 10 finalists and each month two contestants will be eliminated until we are left with the final two. The winner will be announced at the RT Booklovers Convention in St. Louis, MO in April 2005 and will appear in the June 2005 issue of RT BOOKclub magazine.
