FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER KICKS BUTT AT ROMANTIC TIMES CONVENTION

"Sometimes you have to shake things up a little to get the job done," claimed Editorial Director Alicia Condon minutes after her staff stormed the Dorchester presentation brandishing water guns and sporting combat gear.

And at the Romantic Times convention in New York City, the Dorchester team kept things hopping with special events to celebrate Connie Mason, Banzai Maguire, Melanie Jackson's Wildside series, and all our talented authors at the conference.

At the Thursday morning breakfast, Alicia Condon and George Sosson, President & Publisher, honored Connie Mason's twenty-year anniversary with a special presentation of custom—made bookends-one end contained the cover of The Last Rogue, Connie's latest release; and the other end pictured Tender Fury, Connie's first book with Dorchester, published in 1984.

Bobbi Smith was also on hand to congratulate Connie and promote her June release, Brazen.

One of the most popular giveaways of the convention proved to be the miniature troll dolls brought in to promote the Wildside books by Melanie Jackson. Full of goblins, selkies and other fey folk, the series has been lauded by reviewers and compared to Christine Feehan and Laurell K. Hamilton. Below, Melanie and her editor Chris Keeslar take a moment to pose with their trolls in front of a poster containing all the books of the series.

At Friday's presentation on the Dorchester line, Chris Keelsar calmly took the podium and began to discuss the new 2176 action-adventure series. Five minutes into his talk, all hell broke loose as the rest of the staff burst in the room, firing water guns and declaring a takeover.

Shake things up, indeed. The special 2176 tank tops earned the Dorchester team the nickname "the kick-butt crew" for the rest of the convention.

The editors' main message for aspiring authors was: Write the book of your heart. A well-written, fresh, exciting novel can be incorporated into the line even if it doesn't necessarily fit the guidelines to the letter.

In addition to talking about the new action-adventure romances, the editors discussed other new directions for Dorchester romance, including: Romantic Suspense, the Making It imprint for chick lit books, Inspirational Romance, and the addition of one more Smooch book for young adults every month.

Raffle winner Isabo Tones displays the "kick-butt" T-shirt she won in a special tote bag filled with all Dorchester's April romances along with some other goodies. Visiting from Ireland, she was especially pleased to receive copies of the books before they were available in stores.
